UK Using Almost 700,000 Water Coolers
April 3, 2009
10 years ago, there was a little over 200,000 water coolers in the UK market. This has risen by nearly 350% in ten years, reaching almost 700,000 by the end of 2008.
However, there was actually a drop of 3% from 2007, which had actually managed to break the 700k unit mark.
One significant change to note has been a increasing move from bottled water coolers over to ‘point of use’ water coolers. Point of use water coolers are those that are actually connected to a mains water supply rather than having to constantly purchase and change bottles. For the first time, point of use dispensers have accounted for more than a third of all water coolers in the UK.
Apparently there are now about 412 water coolers for every 1,000 VAT-registered companies in the UK, according to a report by Zenith International, a food and drink consultancy company.
According to Mark Groves, Zenith director:
“The UK market experienced very rapid growth through the 1990s and it has certainly slowed since then,” He continues; “Most employers now recognise the value of healthy hydration at work, but the economic downturn has led to a recent reduction in the overall number of locations.”
Octuplet mum claims she is not living off others
April 2, 2009
Ever since she hit the news after giving birth to eight babies on January the 26th, Nadya Suleman, has been in and out of the news. First of all it was joy at the fact she had managed to give birth to all those little babies. But this was short lived and it soon turned out she had used artificial insemination and had too many eggs implanted.
This caused a bit of a debate as it seems she was forewarned by doctors not to have so many eggs implanted and was actually turned down by one doctor who refused to perform the procedure.
However, once this was all tided over, Suleman was back in the limelight with her baby shower. This was no ordinary baby shower, it took place on the “Dr Phil” TV show and she was given a plethora of baby gifts, including pushchairs, cribs, bunkbeds and baby upgrades for her home.
The home improvement includes a new nursery, flooring and more in the hope of making it worthy of the hospital inspection. Sounds like one of the best baby showers a mum could hope for.
The latest debacle arose after it was claimed she was getting her parents and family to help her purchase a brand new four bedroom home. However, Suleman assures that she is paying for this new house on her own.
