Warner Bros boosts UK film industry by buying Harry Potter studio
November 9, 2010
The US movie studio Warner Bros has revealed that it has purchased the UK film studios where all the Harry Potter films were produced. Leavesden Studios, in Watford, was also home to the huge blockbusters Inception and The Dark Knight.
In what has been hailed as a vital boost to the UK film industry as the government plans to scrap the UK film council, Warner Bros has also announced that it will undertake a £100 million expansion of Leavesden Studios. The expanded studio will represent approximately a third of all film studio space in Britain.
The expansion project is expected to be complete by 2012, creating around 1,500 new jobs for the industry.
