Tom Daley, Britain’s youngest Olympian at 14

June 21, 2008

Tom Daley will have the eyes of the world riveted on him when he sets to dive at the Bejjing Olympics. The 14-year diving British sensation has already achieved a star status and is recognised as well as respected. Dale was center of attraction for the businessmen on London’s Oxford Street. They could not resist peering into the Adidas store window to have a glimpse of Dale engaged in a photo shoot for the British team’s kit.

He displays lucidity and maturity that belies his age while attending and simultaneously responding to international reporters. Simon Clegg, the chief executive of the British Olympic Association, said: “Tom is an extraordinary young man. He is 14 years old, but with a head on his shoulders that’s way beyond that in terms of maturity. It’s a charismatic character he has got behind that 14-year old.”

Britain’s youngest male Olympian in 48 years was invited by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to Downing Street, to share his views on promoting sports. The diving prodigy aims to gather as much experience at the Beijing Olympics, which will stand him in good stead for the London 2012 Olympics. Good luck to the budding lad!
